Through my adolescence, I often sat alone in my room asking myself the question: ‘Why wasn’t he here?’

Each time never quite being able to land on the correct answer.

How could I burden that question on my single mum who raised me on her own without support?
For years, I walked along the lines of insecurity and frustration trying to piece together the hole left inside of me from not having a father figure to guide me through this maze of life.
THE FILM'S SYNOPSIS
At This Moment, It’s Us follows follows Delvonte Clarke, a quiet yet driven 19-year-old ballet dancer, striving for success not only to prove himself but to honour the sacrifices of his loving mother, Rachel.
Beneath his disciplined exterior lies an unspoken pain tied to the absence of his father, a wound he refuses to acknowledge as he pushes himself relentlessly toward his goals.
When a rejection reopens old wounds, a quiet night with his mother, Rachel becomes a moment of healing, revealing the unspoken struggles they both carry.
IMPACT OF THIS FILM
This film is deeply personal, inspired not only by our director, Theo's own experiences but also by the stories of 2.7 million single mothers raising children in the United Kingdom today.
The team is committed to shining a light on these stories, not only through the film itself but also through Matrescence, a companion ‘zine’ featuring interviews with single mothers, sharing their journeys.
Additionally, we are pledging 10% of all funds raised to a charity supporting single-parent families across the United Kingdom.​
We are a passionate team of emerging filmmakers, working with professional actors to bring this important story to life.
Every pound you donate will go directly toward the making and visibility of this film — from renting essential equipment (like Steadicams, lenses, and lights), to hiring key professionals (like our post-production team), to funding our marketing and festival submissions, maximising the reach of this socially-driven project and amplifying its impact.

Our decision to shoot on 16mm film has shaped our production process to be especially detailed and meticulous, ensuring that every creative choice on screen is intentional and visually compelling.
